It is not difficult to get people to nod along when the conversation is about more and better circular solutions. There is now a broad understanding that we must reduce our resource consumption. We have experienced this many times over the past year in meetings with municipalities, organisations, and partners.<\/p>\n\n
Interest in what textiles can become when they can no longer be used for their original purpose is strong, and most people can see both the problem and the need to find better solutions.<\/p>\n\n
The challenge arises when interest must be translated into concrete decisions. Because then it is no longer only about good intentions, but also about procurement, budgets, logistics, and finances.<\/p>\n\n
Proper handling of textile waste requires a genuine effort. The textiles must be collected, sorted, transported, and documented, and uses must be found where the materials can actually replace new raw materials. It does not happen by itself \u2013 and it is probably precisely here that the circular economy is truly put to the test: not in the ambitions, but in the concrete choices we make afterwards.<\/p>\n\n
For Retextil, the past year has been instructive. We have handled more than 1,000 tonnes of household-collected textile waste, received coverage in B\u00f8rsen, taken part at the Construction Site during Folkem\u00f8det, and held a wide range of conversations with both public and private stakeholders.<\/p>\n\n
At the same time, it has made one thing clear: There is strong interest in the solutions. The task now is to get more of them working in practice.<\/p>\n\n
